State Mixed Doubles – what a great weekend, we are pleased that everyone had a good time and appreciative of the positive feedback. Thanks to the Rockyora ladies for running the kitchen, the food and service was amazing, and we received loads of positive comments about their contribution. Thanks to Lisa and all the bar staff, as always, a big part of making our days so successful and enjoyable. Finally, thank you to the army of helpers over the weekend but special mention to those on Friday with helping set-up (Harro, Langy, Petar, Lou, Bob, Pam, Lilly, Sandra, Vicki and the committee).
Sponsors – Sandra did a great job getting so many businesses contributing to the raffles over the weekend. Over the next few days there will be information put up on our webpage including, where available, links to websites or other social media. We encourage you all to check them out and where possible support their businesses.
Mixed Doubles Championship Date – the last championship event of the year is on October 5th. This is a nomination only event, and we will be closing nominations on Sunday 28th September – the current nomination list is available, and updated, on the Facebook page. We have a few ladies still looking for partners so if there are any guys available (and eligible) please let me know as soon as you can.
Jackpot (2 peg) – at some charity events there is a jackpot where anybody that pegs 2 is eligible to buy a $2 entry into a jackpot draw (one entry per peg). It was suggested that this might be something fun to include at our events and Petar Govorko has offered to run a trial commencing at the Club Mixed Doubles on October 5th. Participation in the jackpot is completely voluntary.
AGM – the 2025 AGM will be held on the 7th December 2025 at the Halls Head Bowling Club. The AGM will commence at 10am and will be followed by end of year lunch and awards. As per the Constitution the Vice President, Secretary, Asst. Treasurer and Asst. Secretary positions will be vacated at the AGM and put up for election. Nominations forms for these positions are available on our website, and all nominations must be signed and returned to the Club Secretary, or their nominee, by 9th of November 2025. Further, Notice of Motion forms are also available on the website and again must be returned by 9th of November 2025. We will create a Facebook post, with links to the documents, as well as having hard copies available at the club day.
End of Year Lunch – to be held on the 7th of December, following the AGM. We will again be asking people, wanting to attend the End of Year lunch, to pay an upfront $20 deposit which is refundable on attendance. We will be taking names and deposits at the October and November club days. Pricing for partners is still being finalised and we will advise as soon as possible (partners must be paid for in advance).
National Championships – a number of members will soon be heading off for the journey across to this years Nationals Championships. We wish you all safe travels and all the best for the Championships. Please remember to take your WA State shirts and if you are flying to put your darts in checked-in baggage (they will be confiscated if you try and take them on as hand luggage).
