Member’s Update June 24

Facebook Group

We currently have just over 90 registered members but comparatively there are almost 330 members on the Mandurah Legends Facebook Page.  Even after allowing for people who have a recent association, or looking to join Mandurah Legends or part of the wider legends community it is obvious there are a lot of duplicate or defunct accounts or people who have no real association with Legends.

We have decided to do a clean-up, before this becomes totally unmanageable, in terms of total size, and to minimise risks of spam, hacking, fake membership requests etc.  So, we will be going through and removing any accounts that don’t fit one of the following criteria:
– Current, recent or previous long-term member of Mandurah Legends.
– Current member of the broader Legends community.
– Prospective new member – will be given a few months before making a call on on-going membership.

We will also require new applicants, to the Facebook group, to answer a couple of questions as part of request to join.

This will take a little time as we work through the list of current members.  Despite our best intentions, I can almost guarantee mistakes will be made.  If you or someone you know is accidentally deleted, please just let us know and re-apply.

We will post this in the Facebook group prior to making changes.

The State Singles in the Southwest was a great weekend and Mandurah was well represented with a strong contingent of competitors.  We managed to bring home a couple of trophies and well done to all our winners, runners-up and all our participating members.  The overall results are on our website and if anybody wants to know their average then please see Peter Mc.

It is getting to nomination deadline time for several events.  The State Events are shown at end of the newsletter, but these are the key dates:
– Today is the last chance to nominate and pay for the State Mixed Doubles.
– Next month is our Club Singles Championship and the last chance to nominate for State Teams and State Doubles.  So, if you aren’t going to play in the Club Singles Championship you need to put your state nominations in and pay today.

We need numbers for the Club Singles as soon as possible, depending on numbers this will give us a whole new set of logistical challenges and we need as much time as possible to work through those.

Also, if you require a State Shirt for the Nationals then you need to get your order and money into Jan McCaughan by no later than June 27th.  Nationals’ nominations also close at the end of June and reminder that every person must submit an individual nomination, even if they are listed on someone else’s form.

If you have questions on any of the above or anything else, then please see one of our committee members. May your arrows fly straight,

Mandurah Legends Darts Committee
