Members Update February 2024

Welcome to our first club day update where we intend to share information on upcoming events and other items – hopefully you find it of value, and we welcome any feedback.

As discussed at our AGM we will be holding general information / discussion sessions prior to a couple of our club days.  Again, this is about getting information out and providing an open forum opportunity for members to discuss any ideas or issues.  The first is scheduled for our March club day and will start just after 9am, so please try and get there a little earlier to sign-up.  We request that if you have a major discussion point to raise, then please let us know in advance so we can add it as an agenda item to share with all members.  Please note that regardless of these sessions, members are asked to approach the committee at anytime if they have any questions or ideas.

We are placing a new shirt order next week and if you are after one, please see Peter McArdle with your details.  Shirts will need to be paid for ($45) before they are ordered.

We have trialled the use of Facebook event invites to assist with catering and pre-planning of possible event structure.  We will review how well it worked but hope that it is a useful tool so please keep an eye out for future events and let us know if you are attending.  Sign-up for playing on club days is still by 9am on the morning of the event.

The first State Event of the year is State Singles in Bunbury on the 25th and 26th May.  Nomination sheets for that and June’s State Mixed Doubles (29th & 30th June) are up near the sign-in desks.  Please note that State nomination fees have increased to $10 per player, paid in advance, to help cover some of the costs of running the events.

Our first club championship is Mens and Ladies Doubles on the 5th of May, there is a sign-up sheet available as well.  To be eligible for championships, members must play two (2) club games beforehand and the entry fee ($5) is to be paid on the day.

A couple of members have indicated a willingness to step into the vacant Assistant Secretary role and the committee will make an announcement on that shortly.

Please show your support and thanks to Lenny’s Family Butcher, Eclipse Driving School, Cec Hatchet and Petar Gorvorko (mystery peg), Sue Tagliaferri and Loretta McNaught (catering fund) and the Halls Head Bowling Club for their sponsorships.

If you have questions on any of the above or anything else, then please see one of our committee members.
