Welcome to the start of the 2025 season and the January 2025 newsletter, hopefully you all had a great Xmas and New Years with family and friends. First up a quick message from our President – “I would like to apologise for missing the first meeting as President, but this break was booked long before being elected. Wishing all our legends a happy New Year and straight darts. Thanks to Kylie for holding the fort.”
As discussed at the AGM we have clarified and implemented the option for people who do not want to participate in State or National events, to only pay the Mandurah Club membership. If you elect to take up this option then be aware that after February the decision it is irreversible and you are locked out of those events for 2025. As before, if Mandurah is not your 1st association club you also only need to pay the club membership.
We will be doing a shirt order for the start of the year, depending on numbers we will place the order after registration day or February club day. Please see Sandra Rance if you want to place an order. The shirts are $45 and though not compulsory for club days, please note that anybody competing at a state event must wear an affiliated club shirt.
From 2025, we will be paying the Halls Head Bowling Club an “affiliation fee” of $10 per player – as discussed at the AGM the club will be covering this cost for this year (reviewed yearly). The fee is not payable if our member is also a member of the Bowling Club. A Bowling Club social membership costs $35 which effectively is only $25 for the individual, as we will still cover $10. As a Bowling Club social member there are some additional benefits, and we encourage you all to explore the option.
For those that are looking to attend Nationals in 2025 and want to get in early with accommodation bookings the event will be held from 25th October to 1st November in Cobram / Barooga on the Victoria and NSW border.
It took a bit longer than planned but we have adjusted the 2025 fixtures to avoid Father’s Day and spread out our club championships. Instead of the club day on 7th September we now have Mixed Doubles championships on 31st August. The 3rd of August event will now just be a normal club day. There will be some hard copies of fixtures at registration, but it can also be accessed on the website, Facebook or I can send anyone copy electronically.
We are grateful to welcome back Petar Govorko and Cec Hatchett as sponsors of the mystery peg, thank Loretta McNaught for stepping into take over the supply of monthly essentials (e.g. milk, bread, coffee etc.) and the Bowling Club for their on-going support. We want to again thank our previous sponsors in Eclipse Driving and Lenny’s Butchers for their generous support in the past. We are still looking at the option of having individual monthly sponsors for the raffle, with the club filling in any gaps. If you are interested, or know of someone looking for a cheap plug, then let us know so we can add to the roster (February is taken).
State event dates are provided at the end, we haven’t received nomination forms yet so don’t have the official nomination closing dates but expect that the first closing date, for Doubles Championships, will be on or club day on 4th May.
